A distinctive, well-located hotel with attractive design, comfortable beds, good breakfast variety and some quiet river-facing rooms. The tradeoffs are meaningful: room and bathroom quality varies, the pool is absent, the gym is small, cleanliness and maintenance reports are mixed, and Wi-Fi reliability is a significant concern.

You should sleep reasonably well here, thanks to comfortable beds and pillows and often-effective insulation. Station, road, hallway, neighbouring-room, and construction noise can still disrupt sleep, especially in station-facing rooms. Choose a river-facing room if quiet matters most.

Very quiet despite being next to main road and railway station

Noisy and construction very near I wouldn’t go back again… I didn’t rest at all and went to another hotel much quiet
Overall sleep prospects are good: bed comfort and pillow quality are strongly supported, and multiple guests report effective insulation. The score is held below excellent because supplied reviews also document train, road, hallway, neighbouring-room and construction noise, with room orientation appearing important.

What are the rooms actually like?
184 reviews about this · 85 photos available · analyzed Oct 2026.
The rooms can be attractive and comfortable, with good views, strong beds, and some spacious layouts. However, size varies sharply, and bathrooms draw repeated complaints about design and condition. Prioritise a larger room if you dislike cramped spaces.

Cleanliness and upkeep are inconsistent rather than reliably five-star.
Check before bookingSupplied reviews also document dirty rooms, stained carpets, dust, hair, odours, wet carpeting, and incomplete housekeeping.
Cleanliness and upkeep are inconsistent rather than reliably five-star. Guests praise the restored look and tidy rooms, but others report dirt, stains, smells, incomplete housekeeping, and maintenance problems. This matters most if you expect flawless room condition.
Guests reporting this gave the whole stay 7.55/10 on average.
Our rooms were so clean and comfortable for the entirety of our stay
Upon arrival the room was dirty
There was a horrible sewage smell from the bathroom for the first 24 hrs
Overall condition is ordinary to good: many supplied guests praise cleanliness and restoration, but concrete cleanliness, odour, dampness, and repair complaints materially reduce the score. The evidence does not establish a deterioration trend; it shows mixed experiences across 2025-2026.
Evidence confidence: moderate. This is a model assessment, not a statistical probability. Limited or inconsistent sources reduce confidence.
Do the staff fix things when they go wrong?
224 reviews about this · 3 photos available · analyzed Oct 2026.
Staff are generally friendly, but service does not always solve problems quickly or effectively. Check-in is often smooth and housekeeping receives praise, while some guests describe unhelpful staff and slow responses. Expect a pleasant welcome, but press firmly when something needs fixing.

Wonderful historic hotel fantastic staff and good breakfast
Check in was smooth
Staff were not helpful And preferred to talk amongst themselves

Breakfast is usually a worthwhile, varied spread, though not consistently at five-star standard. Some guests find it limited, cold, poorly served, or expensive, and coffee quality divides opinion. Book it if convenience matters more than getting the best-value meal in Lisbon.

The breakfast was also delicious and offered a good variety
there is an excellent Cafe at the station itself
The breakfast was absolutely substandard for a 5* hotel
My one gripe is that my coffee and tea were not refreshed for the second day of my stay

The location is highly convenient for trains, metro, buses, nearby food, and many sights.
Check before bookingThe station and main-road setting can bring noise and busy surroundings.
The location is highly convenient for trains, metro, buses, nearby food, and many sights. The station and main-road setting make it busy and sometimes noisy, and the area is not quite central. It is a strong base for transport-led sightseeing, less so for a quiet neighbourhood stay.
The vicinity was great to be able to walk to places we wanted to visit
The metro was only a few steps away which was very handy
not 100% Walking distance to city center
The first room was vibrating cause there train station bellow so they changed my room to river side

Is the desk usable for a working day?

There is a usable-looking desk or console with a chair and nearby outlets, but it is better for light work than a guaranteed full working day.
Check before bookingDesk dimensions are unavailable; the supplied reviews do not clearly describe desk size.
There is a usable-looking desk or console with a chair and nearby outlets, but it is better for light work than a guaranteed full working day. Desk comfort and size are unclear, and Wi-Fi complaints undermine its practicality. Bring a backup connection if work is important.

We didn’t get the name of the chap on the desk when we checked in late at night
wifi was working without any issues
just a desk
Wifi was a nightmare to use
7/10: A dedicated desk and chair are consistently visible, with outlets shown near the work surface. The stored corpus records one praise and one complaint about desk and working space, so the score is good but not exceptional. Desk dimensions, comfort, and real-world usability are not documented.
Evidence confidence: moderate. This is a model assessment, not a statistical probability. Limited or inconsistent sources reduce confidence.

Is it worth the money?
35 reviews about this · analyzed Oct 2026.
Value is mixed: the historic setting, location, and some strong room and breakfast experiences appeal, but inconsistent upkeep and service can make the price feel high. It is best for travellers who value atmosphere and transport access more than flawless facilities.
