Try Awan for a low-commitment day of writing, reading or ordinary laptop work, particularly if you value a quiet setting without a separate shared-workspace fee. Do not commit to a month solely on that attractive entry model. The 2026 evidence combines genuine praise for focus, cooling and internet with a specific report of restricted free bandwidth and complaints about maintenance. Test the connection and your chosen seat before settling in. Call-heavy workers should obtain current room and network terms: successful rented-room calls were reported in April 2025, not demonstrated under today’s free-access arrangement.

Who it suits

A good fit when…

  • Budget-conscious workers willing to buy a drink or meal and test whether the included connection meets their needs.[source][source]
  • Writers and independent workers seeking a quieter café-linked setting rather than street-facing bustle.[source]
  • Workers interested in a friendly workshop setting, without assuming a guaranteed networking programme.[source]

Who should look elsewhere

Less suitable when…

  • Anyone needing dependable high-bandwidth work immediately, with no time to test the network or clarify upgrade charges.[source]
  • Workers requiring consistently polished surroundings or reliably cool seating throughout a long day.[source]
  • People expecting the free shared-workspace offer to establish private call-room access or a current room tariff.[source][source]

The scorecard

Seven parts of a good working day.

Each rating is supported by cited experiences or, for access, documented terms. An unrated category is an evidence gap, not a zero.

Focus and noise

7.5/10

June and May 2026 guests independently describe calm, quiet working conditions, including repeat visits. Reported floor movement could interrupt concentration, so quietness does not imply a distraction-free workstation.[source]

Moderate evidence confidence · 3 cited guest reviews

Internet and connectivity

4.5/10

January and August 2026 reports are positive, but June’s specific 3–5 Mbps experience and reported paid upgrade materially weaken dependability. This assessment reflects inconsistent guest outcomes, not an independently measured speed.[source]

Higher evidence confidence · 4 cited guest reviews

Desk and chair comfort

5.0/10

August 2026 praise for comfort and functioning AC conflicts with May complaints about chair cleanliness, cooling and floor movement. October 2025 seating and outlet reports support practicality, not verified ergonomics.[source]

Moderate evidence confidence · 3 cited guest reviews

Calls and meetings

Unrated

April 2025 rented-room video calls succeeded, and an October 2024 guest used the café for calls. July 2026 private-office praise does not establish current call quality, acoustic privacy or included room access.[source]

Insufficient current evidence for a rating

Value for money

7.0/10

The operator confirms purchase-linked free shared access, and two May 2026 guests support budget appeal. January criticism of drink prices and June’s reported bandwidth surcharge make value dependent on workload and purchases.[source][source]

Moderate evidence confidence · 4 cited guest reviews

Location and access

7.0/10

The documented Kayu Manis address and Pepito landmark help identify the branch. Published coworking hours allow some evening work, but Sunday closure and conflicting Wednesday–Saturday closing times require confirmation.[source][source]

Higher evidence confidence · Documented access terms

Community

7.0/10

July 2026 workshop praise and August’s friendly atmosphere support an approachable social setting. These accounts do not establish event frequency, structured introductions or a dependable professional networking programme.[source]

Moderate evidence confidence · 2 cited guest reviews

The reasons to consider it

What works well.

  • The operator’s purchase-linked shared-access offer is corroborated by recent guest experience.[source][source]
  • Two 2026 guests independently describe quiet or focused working conditions.[source]
  • Guests report wall plugs, seating choices and a friendly workshop-friendly environment.[source]

The compromises to understand

What could get in your way.

  • Internet reports conflict, including a June 2026 account of a 5 Mbps free tier and an extra charge for faster service.[source]
  • Maintenance and comfort are inconsistent in guest accounts, including floor movement, dirty chairs and disputed cooling performance.[source]
  • Coworking-specific closing times differ from Maps, while current private-room and network-upgrade tariffs are not established.[source][source][source]

A closer look · Chapter 1

A quiet working base, with a seat worth testing

The strongest reason to try Awan is its working atmosphere rather than a promise of premium facilities. A June 2026 guest describes central Canggu surroundings sheltered from noisy streets and a calm, focused café; a May repeat visitor independently calls it quiet. That makes it a plausible setting for writing, reading and concentrated individual work. Workshop praise and friendly surroundings also suggest that quiet need not mean socially isolated.

The physical experience is less consistent. An August 2026 guest found the coworking area comfortable and its AC functional, while a May guest reported floor movement when others walked, unclean chairs and insufficient cooling. A January guest also criticised maintenance. These are competing accounts, not proof that every seat is uncomfortable or that later improvements resolved the complaints. October 2025 reports of wall plugs and varied seating add practical reassurance, but not verified ergonomic quality. For a long day, inspect the chair, outlet access and temperature before ordering around a full schedule. Printing should not be treated as unrestricted office support: a May 2026 guest reports PDF-only service capped at ten pages.

A closer look · Chapter 2

Clarify the network tier before relying on it

Connectivity is the most consequential disagreement. January 2026 feedback describes solid internet, and August feedback says it worked. An October 2025 guest also found the connection strong enough for hours of work. Against those accounts, a June 2026 guest reports approximately 3–5 Mbps after buying a meal and says staff explained that free service was limited to 5 Mbps, with 100k required for faster access. That is a guest-reported explanation, not a verified current tariff or proof of a universal network cap. It nevertheless makes the free-workspace offer an unsafe proxy for unrestricted bandwidth.

Calls need separate planning. An April 2025 guest rented a room and completed video calls without problems, but found it musty. An October 2024 account distinguishes the silent coworking area from the café used for calls; that older arrangement should not be assumed unchanged. July 2026 private-office praise confirms a different privacy option, not soundproofing or successful calls. Ask which connection your purchase includes, whether an upgrade has a duration limit, and what room booking costs now. Test your actual conferencing setup before scheduling important meetings.

A closer look · Chapter 3

An attractive entry model, not an all-inclusive membership

The current operator page explicitly offers free shared coworking with any café or restaurant purchase. A May 2026 guest reports spending a whole day on one coffee order, and another considers the menu reasonable for economical working. However, a January guest calls drinks expensive. The useful conclusion is not that Awan is universally cheap: its appeal is avoiding a separate shared-access fee when you already want something from the café. Current menu amounts, private-office rates and private-room charges are not established by operator pricing evidence. The April 2025 room charge and June 2026 network surcharge should remain historical guest reports rather than advertised rates.

The listing places this branch on Jl. Kayu Manis, and the operator identifies it as behind Pepito supermarket in Batu Bolong. Check the workspace schedule rather than assuming café hours apply. The operator lists coworking from 10 AM–10 PM Monday and Tuesday, 10 AM–7 PM Wednesday through Saturday, and Sunday closed; Maps instead shows 5 PM closing on the latter weekdays. Confirm that discrepancy before planning late work. For a month, establish the recurring purchase requirement and any separate office or network terms before committing.

A useful first-day check

Try your real work setup.

Test a call from the area you would use. Check the desk, chair, power sockets and connection with your own device. Ask whether booths and meeting rooms need a reservation or cost extra.

A published facility tells you what to ask about. It does not establish measured speed, low noise, comfortable seating or spare capacity.

How this guide is built

Individual findings drive the rankings.

Each review combines sourced guest experiences with operator information. We assess seven parts of the working day and explain the strengths, trade-offs and gaps. We have not visited or independently tested the spaces.

The overall rating is a weighted calculation from supported category scores. A rating needs at least four supported categories, two core work categories and five distinct cited guest reviews. A facility list or a public star rating alone is insufficient.

See the score weights and evidence rules
  • Focused work: 20%
  • Connectivity: 25%
  • Desk comfort: 15%
  • Calls & meetings: 15%
  • Value: 10%
  • Access: 10%
  • Community: 5%

Unavailable categories are left unrated, and weights are redistributed across the supported categories. Each needs confidence of at least 65% and two distinct cited guest reviews; access can instead use two documented facts. Value evidence expires after 30 days; other category evidence after 90 days.

Rankings use the calculated overall rating, then evidence confidence and analyzed review count, with a stable identifier as the final tie-break. Category shortlists use category score, confidence and the same stable identifier. Hotel commissions do not enter either calculation.

AI assists the individual analysis and writing. The city ordering is calculated directly from those individual findings. Google’s reported rating remains separate from our assessment.
